Ingredients:

– 2 cups of whole wheat flour

– 1 teaspoon of salt

– 1 tablespoon of oil

– Warm water (as needed)

– Oil (for deep frying)

Step-by-step guide:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Mix well.

2. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the oil.

3. Gradually add warm water to the mixture while kneading the dough. Continue adding water until a soft and pliable dough is formed.

4. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes.

6. After the resting period, divide the dough into small equal-sized balls.

7. Take one dough ball and flatten it slightly with your hands.

8. Dust the working surface and the dough ball with some flour to prevent sticking.

9. Roll out the dough ball into a circle of approximately 4-5 inches in diameter. You can adjust the size according to your preference.

10. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat.

11. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide the rolled puri into the oil. It should puff up within a few seconds.

12. Gently press the puri with a slotted spoon to help it puff up evenly.

13. Fry the puri for about 30-40 seconds on each side until it turns golden brown.

14. Remove the puri from the oil using a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

15. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls until all the puris are fried.

16. Serve the hot and crispy puris with your favorite curry, chutney, or enjoy them on their own.

Enjoy the delightful taste and texture of freshly made puris.
